Recruitment

College is a time to explore who you are, what matters to you, and what value you want to bring to the world! And joining a sorority is about finding your people – the women who will cheer you on and challenge you along the way. Your future sisters will be there to support you as you learn all that you’re capable of, and through the sorority experience you’ll tap into your potential through exploring leadership, giving back to the community, and serving others.

Sorority is… coming together to make a difference! Sororities bring incredible women together and provide outlets and support for us to do real good in our community. We believe there is no group at La Salle University that has the power to impact our world like sororities!
Sorority is… fun! It’s about always having those go-to girls you can sing at the top of your lungs with, late-night study buddies, that sister who is there when you need ice cream (or a hug), and a mentor who inspires you to be the best version of you.
Sorority is… a deep network and well of opportunities that will help you succeed – beyond what you can imagine today. Your sorority helps you find your niche at [school] through opportunities to connect and lead, and the benefits of the sorority experience are real. Sorority women are three times as likely to have an internship in school and twice as likely to have a job when they graduate.
Sorority is… a community of support. You’ve heard about our “sisterhood.” Sororities provide a family and a home away from home. Your sisters will be there for you – for celebrating your wins, for tough conversations, and for when you need a shoulder to lean on. Sisterhood is deeper than friendship and lasts far beyond the few years we’re in college.

Joining Phi Omicron

Joining a sorority can be an important part of the collegiate experience – it can help you navigate these exciting and sometimes challenging times. Regardless of the campus, Phi Mu provides a place you can call home – a place where you belong and are surrounded by women who help you become your best self. We hope you will read more about what makes the Phi Mu experience unique and learn about our sisterhood.

How Do You Join Phi Mu?

There are two ways to participate in recruitment to join a sorority. You may already be familiar with primary recruitment as the most common way to join a sorority. The other way to be extended a bid from a sorority is through a process called continuous open bidding (COB). The final step in the joining process is signing a Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement (MRABA).

At La Salle University primary recruitment is held during the spring semester for all women who have a 2.5 GPA or higher with the university. Recruitment is usually held the first few weeks of the semester and takes place Friday through Sunday. There are three rounds of recruitment - sisterhood, philanthropy, and preference - and on the last day of recruitment, there is Bid Day!

During the fall semester chapters at La Salle participate in continuous open bidding or "COB." COB is open to all women at La Salle University who have a GPA of 2.5 or higher with the University. During the COB period chapters hold various COB events for the women who wish to join. After these COB events, if a chapter believes that you would be a good addition to their sisterhood they will extend a bid.

    Why Join Phi Mu?

The sisters of Phi Mu at La Salle University are a close-knit group of women who are passionate about our sisterhood and values. Our sisters come from all walks of life and are heavily involved on La Salle's campus inside and outside of the chapter. We are a diverse group of women who are inspired by each other to make a difference in our community. Phi Mu gives you the opportunity to grow as a sister and a leader within the chapter. We have various leadership opportunities that can help teach you real-world lessons and allow you to influence the chapter in a positive way.

“I joined Phi Mu because I was already involved in athletics at La Salle, but I wanted to become more engaged on campus. When I first met some of the women from Phi Mu, I was struck by how genuinely kind they were, with beauty that radiated both inside and out. Being a part of this sorority has taught me valuable skills like event planning, and it has allowed me to grow and thrive alongside an incredible group of sisters.” -Sister Callie Bullard
